tijuana-sound-machine-cover Nortec Collective Pres. Bostich + Fussible

The sounds of a shaky accordion and what seems like an even shakier Casio kick off the latest album from Nortec Collective’s rebel sons, Bostich + Fussible’s album.

I get a bit of road rage now and then—according to my girlfriend. Just about everyday on my way to and from work I feel like killing some idiot suffering from head up ass disease. What is it about LA and the lack of left-handed turn singles at traffic lights? It’s like the city planner was smoking crack… or had some sort of bias against motorist wanting to make left-handed turns. It’s nuts. Of all the crappy things about living in Los Angeles this has to be in the top 5. Seriously. You get about 2—maybe 3—cars through the intersection before the light turns red. And that’s if everyone is paying attention. Sadly, most of the drivers around here somehow fail to grasp that there are others actually on the road. Perhaps that or they’re not capable of talking on the cell phone and driving at the same time. Either way, sharing the road with stupid people is a common occurrence in LA.

hot-shots-golf1 Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2

It’s like playing a fun game, creating and accessorizing an anime and then watching it all-in-one. This PSP sequel to Hot Shots Golf may have added some new features, but the formula to just pick up and play—and then play some more—still holds true. If you’ve never played the Hot Shots Golf series, don’t be fooled into thinking that this is some mild game of mini golf. Once you get through the fairways over tropical islands, snow-capped mountains and bridges or against the climate, putting the ball in those greens can be deceiving. The controls are straightforward enough that after some time, you’ll be able to master those putts with your caddy cheering you along the way.

The Hipster Clusterfuck at HARD
On Saturday night I had the great pleasure in joining thousands of American Apparel model wannabes and nu-ravers in an all night dance party at this summer’s HARD fest at the Shrine Auditorium. I got to witness the hipster clusterfuck bumping (and humping) nonstop to N.E.R.D., MSTRKRFT, and the Bloody Beetroots who all gave electrifying performances that left the audience dancing as if their lives depended on it. Unfortunately, acts ran late and the Bloody Beetroots had to cut their pulsating set short leaving the disappointed audience chanting for one more song. I say kudos to the Bloody Beetroots (very cool guys that I got to hang out with before the show, sans masks!) because that’s how showbiz goes right? You gotta keep em wanting more! Speaking of which…

Last Year in the Pool, Fool!

jellynyc-pool-parties7-1-07-1 JellyNYC Pool Parties

Remember being in Brooklyn last summer? If you do, you’ll remember the JellyNYC Pool Parties at McCarren. I can hear those pulsing bass beats pouring through the hot streets. It’s like social conditioning: as soon as the skinny little Brooklyn birds have slipped into their yellow jumpsuits, riding around on ten-speeds, it’s somehow become legal to strut the streets with giant Styrofoam cups o’ beer.
